The new “Coupe-Gordon-Bennett” district replaces old warehouses facing Le Lignon. t stems from a town planning scheme that provides for a central pedestrian walkway around which are scattered five courtyard buildings, which drop in height at they get nearer to the villas to the south east. Great architectural consistency was needed to protect the district’s image. It is in this context that the two buildings “C2 and “D”, named “Bora” and “Zéphyr”, stand at the heart of the district. The hundred and forty-six dwellings in the building are double aspect, corner apartments or duplex apartments. The apartments vary in size from three to six rooms. For a courtyard building, the question of the treatment of “incoming angles” is of paramount importance. In this case it is solved by the positioning of the staircase which protects each apartment from prying eyes. The buildings all have a large linear balcony surrounding the external envelope that is green. They each also have a courtyard, by which the dwellings are accessed, with differentiated wall expressions. In these two courtyards, this dichotomy is more nuanced insofar as the guard rails of the terraces and gangways of the duplexes are in keeping with the external envelope but remain within the shades of white or beige. The landscaping is also different for each.
