It is the first piece of what will become the "Garden of Nations" wanted by the canton, as a demonstration of its ability to continue a tradition of placing international organizations in a green setting. The building stands out on a ridge, where the road to Ferney is horizontal. In this privileged location, with distant views of the landscape of the Alps, the lake and the Jura, the Campus Santé opts for a folded shape, which offers several fronts and breaks its intrinsic length. The head of the volume opens to the west and echoes the "Plein-Soleil" ensemble that the architect Georges Addor completed in 1966. Designed to provide office space for different occupants, the project skilfully plays on its slight deformations to maintain a crown of modular spaces, all of which benefit from a relationship with the environment. The ground floor of the building includes the main entrance to the north, which is located at the bottom of one of the corners of the volume. There are also conference rooms of various sizes, the largest of which is located at the end of the composition. In the latter space, the supply of light is controlled by large high windows that give it a character that reflects its collective use. Like the institutions that surround it, the fronts are entirely glazed. On top of this transparent envelope are superimposed bands, in the form of lighteners of changing proportions, materialized by vertical metal slats. Their inclination allows a differentiated reading of the building's facades and to capture the solar path by describing the volume differently according to the seasons. Philippe Meier
