As part of a peri-urban context whose referential icon is the garden city of Aïre, the two social housing buildings are displayed as twins in a large park. The associated urban landscape, planned for the competition and not yet completed, provides for a pedestrian character and an ounce of vegetation on the Chemin des Ouches side that enhances the radiant character of the architectural design. The pleated shape is the result of a very subtle typological manipulation that consists in tightening the centre to open the corners. The composition makes it possible to offer the single-orientated apartments three angles, and to remove them around a staircase whose design benefits from the particular geometry of the plan. This collective space offers spatial and social qualities that go beyond simple distribution in the modern sense of the term and refer to references from the nineteenth century in Geneva. However, the minimum size apartments offer strong environmental benefits through the presence of large windows and loggias. Built on a very limited budget, the architecture manages to design a prefabricated concrete envelope with some modifications that give it a grain size that reminds us of that of the historic centre. Inside, the domestic nature of the materials proposed for collective spaces - plaster, oak, terrazzo - offers a very enriching alternative to the usual "raw surfaces" that have made the heyday of modern and contemporary social housing.
