In this new district of multiple dwelling units, located between the headquarters of the WIPO and the Intercontinental Hotel, urban planning authorised the gradual replacement of the pre-existing villas by small buildings on six floors. Here the rental building is adjacent to a previously erected building of the same size. It is built on a natural slope thus having a triple aspect and allowing the installation of an underground car park on the upper side. The entrance hall opens on to chemin des Fleurettes and gives access to a staircase with natural light on the two first floors. The apartments come in different sizes and typologies, from a single aspect studio apartment to a large duplex loft. In the majority of cases, the day spaces have generous areas and natural light through long windows. The design of the envelope is both simple and expressive: strip window, with canvas blinds and a white band of precast concrete. When the latter projects from the transparent envelope it generates wide balconies appearing as external extensions of the habitat. Overhangs on different planes of the building, they enliven the façade by a play on shadows. The loft continues in this reasoning of a highly “sculptural” composition so that it is not seen as an added element.
